Surround Yourself with Women Who Inspire You

We all have people we follow on Insta or read their blog religiously, but we often forget that they are human too. On December 9th when @ThriftyFatty hit 10,000 followers on Instagram she posted that she would be hosting a meet up in January. It was a moment where I was listening to her insta-story and immediately screen shotted her dace (sorry Emily it wasn't the best photo) and sent it to Kenz. Emily is so honest and real and there are so many amazing plus size millennials that need to follow someone as bad ass and positive as she is. Growing up there is nothing worse than being the heaviest kiddo at recess or on the soccer team. There's nothing worse.

You remember the girl who told you that skinny jeans shouldn't be made in your size. 8 years later and that witchy girls words still kick me in the gut.

I recently listened to another blogger talk about how we need to sensor our social media for fitspo or unhealthy fad diets. Isn't that sick reality that we live in a world where we are brain washing our girls that skinny means healthy? NOT TRUE! I have run 2 marathons, countless halfs, you can catch me at the gym at 6am on the daily. I eat healthy 90% of the time, but the other 10% you can damn sure catch me with a beer and cheese curds. It's life. Being a size 12 jeans or an XL shirt does not make you unhealthy. Or unworthy. Or any less of a human than the size 0 model.

I first came across Thrifty Fatty at a blogger event a couple months ago and followed her immediately. She radiates positivity, but also isn't afraid to be real about the not so peachy times.

Kenz and I went to Dual Citizen to celebrate her reaching 10K followers. It was one of those things where we had no idea what to expect. Was she going to be real and down to earth in real life or was she going to be a "insta-star"? Holy macaroni, she is the kindest most down to earth person ever. We met so many amazing women. There are so many hard working, professional, plus size millennials right here in our own backyard and meeting them was like meeting up with friends you've known for years. These women are working in the tech field, writing well known tech blogs, running non-profits, curating fashion lines, being oncology and labor and delivery nurses.

THESE WOMEN ARE AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, EMPOWERED, and BADASS women. The world better watch out because these women are the future. I cannot wait to see what this newfound group of ladies can accomplish and I hope to call them friends. Every single woman who entered the brewery that night went with no expectation as to what was going to come of that night. We all talked and mingled and shared stories, but left as followers and friends.

The lesson in all of this is stop hiding behind closed doors (me included) and live. Live life, be proud, be kind, embrace what life throws at you. Be strong, be confident, and be a bad ass.

Thank you Emily for bringing us together.

Congratulations on your immense accomplishment you deserve the world.
